Since 2010, Matthew and Pedro have worked tirelessly to bring Spirit Guild to life. Issue 1 is finally complete, and will be released later in 2018. You can read the first nine pages of issue 1 in the meantime.
Matthew M. Montelione
With a Master’s degree in History, and as a native Long Islander, Matthew has taken great care to paint historically accurate details within the story of Spirit Guild. His ongoing research centers on Suffolk County in the American Revolution, specifically the local experiences of Loyalists on eastern Long Island. Spirit Guild is his second and most cherished comic-creating endeavor. His past works include: “Richard Floyd IV: Long Island Loyalist,” published in Long Island History Journal (2015 VOL 24-2), and Dark Energy, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan-fiction. Some of Matthew’s biggest influences are J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, Marvel’s X-Men, and Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Pedro has been illustrating since he was a child. Throughout school, Art class was his home away from home. He has a degree in Graphic Design. His first comic, A Second Look, which he wrote and illustrated, was the thesis for his degree. Working for many years on his new comic, Spirit Guild, his drawing style has evolved, with many influences including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Yojimbo, Black Sad, etc.
Joining the team in 2015, Eduardo couldn't be more excited to work on this project. He has been digitally lettering for over three years and had previously worked on Matthew and Pedro's previous short project Dark Energy. His other lettering projects include Liberty, Oasis, and Black Lotus Empire.
